these dudes pretend they support freedom of speech when really all they support is what THEY like. a removed butt shot? definitely needs to be protected under freedom of speech. but a game including one single trans character? a trans character just EXISTING is a political statement to them, they see it as a personal attack on an industry they perceive as a safe space only for THEM and it makes them absolutely FURIOUS

these people only defend freedom of speech for what they think is “apolitical”–in other words, anything that lines up with THEIR politics well enough that they don’t have to think too hard about it. all the military shooters about modern america being invaded by our former enemies from the cold war aren’t political to them. but featuring too many fully clothed women is

they assume that all developers, by default, agree with their point of view. toning down of sexual content, having too many female characters, having any LGBT+ characters? they believe that most developers would never support these ideas, and that any who do are either bowing to the demands of ~the SJWs~ or just plain pandering. bowing to GGers’ demands or pandering to the typical male audience is, of course, what they think should be the norm

and of course, everyone who they already know isn’t on their side has to be some kind of con artist rather than someone expressing their honest beliefs–that, or they’ve just been BRAINWASHED by anita sarkeesian or they’re being paid off or they’re just too SCARED to admit they agree with GG or something equally fucking stupid

these people believe that members of oppressed groups are the ones with thin skin who turn everything into some huge controversy when it’s these GG fuckers who flip their fucking shit and threaten to boycott and start hate campaigns and put actual peoples’ lives in danger over the tiniest fucking things

this is such a horrible environment to live in and i am so, so tired of it
